Cordell Bank is an underwater
sea mountain in the Pacific Ocean.
It is located a few miles west of the
Point Reyes Lighthouse.
The four-and-a-half mile by nine-and-a-half mile rocky complex sits at
the edge of the
continental shelf.
The ocean conditions of the Cordell Bank environment sustain a
thriving marine life, which is studied
in ongoing research projects.
A recent survey of the bank's
benthic marine life found healthy
populations of corals, sponges, sea stars and other oceanic life forms.
