Deadman's Creek Trail
in Washoe Lake State Park
in northwest Nevada
follows its eponymic creek uphill with access to a gazebo
and other locations in the Virginia Range.
The exposed gazebo is a great place to overlook
Washoe Lake
and the Carson Range
above the western shore of the shallow lake.
As the picture shows, for views you don't need to climb up
to the gazebo vista point.
Once you have come out of the riparian willows and bushes
of the lower canyon just turn around and enjoy spectacular views.
On a winter day you may find yourself in a completely
snow-free sagebrush terrain—yet, will face a white Carson Range
with snow falling alongside its rim and snow blankets
in the foothills reflecting sunshine.
