Jack's Peak in the central Sierra Nevada

Jack's Peak

Susie Lake backdropped by Jack's Peak and its east-side shoulder

Jack's Peak (9,856 ft, 3004 m) is about 120 feet less tall than Dick's Peak, its brother peak to the north. These two peaks are situated in the heart of the Desolation Wilderness. They and their adjoining ridges surround Half Moon Lake and Alta Morris Lake, accessible via Trail 17E31. From the southeast shores of these lakes glacially transformed granite croppings descend down to Susie Lake, where the above picture with the slant-cone profile of Jack's Peak was taken.
