Miniature city model of Emden: section with city hall

Scaled-down Emden

Touchable Emden: a 3D bronze relief to feel the cityscape

Get a rooftop view and walk the City of Emden with your finger! The 3D city map, a bronze relief, makes it possible. This miniature version of downtown Emden was installed in 2006 at the historic harbor gate (Hafentor) next to the Ratsdelft, a harbor basin. The cityscape sculpture is a gift of the Lions Club Emden to the visually impaired citizens and visitors of the seaport city. The section shown in the above picture includes Emden's town hall (Emder Rathaus)—smaller than a shoe box—with its globe-topped tower glorifying maritime endeavors. The real-size town hall was destroyed in World War II. It was rebuilt in a modern style while integrating elements of its former architecture.
